Volume is only part of the decision.
Skip sizes are normally described in cubic yards. Ask an operator about actual dimensions, access and weight limits before choosing. A load of rubble behaves very differently from bulky furniture.
Measure the proposed position and discuss vehicle access, overhead obstructions, loading restrictions and what will go into the skip. Do not assume that a larger container can carry more heavy material.
Home & garden
Separate reusable items first. Tell the operator if your load includes soil, furniture, timber or mixed waste so they can advise on the right container.
Building & renovation
Identify heavy materials and specialist waste before booking. Confirm whether plasterboard and other streams need separate handling.
Business clear-outs
Describe the waste accurately. Discuss collection arrangements and the documentation appropriate to the waste and location.
